I have never been lucky enough to see Alice Kettles' tapestries face to face, however discovering her book one idle day in the library some years ago was enough to convince me of her genius. Here are just a few of her stunning machine-embroidered pieces; inspired by mythology and storytelling they explore the "line of thread to connect relationships and define emotions such as suffering, hope and renewal." The rich layering of colours and the sinuous lines evoke such an unearthly yet human grace. I think so anyway...
